Ok, so The Journey Itself is a story of passing. Our journey begins when all we know is wonder and discovery. We move through the pain of adolesence and disillusionment. We accept what some would call the burden of adulthood and responsibility - at least most of us make it to this link in the chain. Move on again to Autumn and the reliving of the glory days. Finally we come to the crossroads of life and death. We struggle to the last breath fighting to hang on to this world. Is it because we don't really believe, deep down, that what's coming next isn't better than what we have now. Is it because we can't see the ones that follow us as being able to make it on their own? Is it a fear that what's around the bend is hell rather than Heaven? What really is the thread that ties us to earth? No answers today, just a lot of questions. :)
Peace

All's Well
Ok, just looks like my browser settings were a little off. Files seem to be downloading just fine.
I also finished lyrics to the title track, The Journey Itself. One thing Kristin noted, though, is that my material seems to be focusing on that epiphany moment. At least the songs we've okayed for the project anyway. She's right. There's a lot more to our faith than that moment we accept Christ and try to follow his teachings. Our journeys are made up of tragedy, joy, love, intimacy, fear. God is with us when it Rains. The Lord guides us through the darkness. But God never promised that it would be easy. That leaves a wealth of songwriting material. Speaking of... gotta go!

latest recording session
Had a great session with Doug this last Thursday. Unfortunately, it seems that all my file links have been corrupted. So, please excuse the page errors while I try to correct this problem.

Dark Corners... I mean Shine, I mean...
Ok, so we talked about this song. One of my faves so far. Problem? The album is intentionally uplifting, but this one song title seems to give a little false advertising. I could see someone saying, "Cool, something to get my pensive side into..." to be greatly disappointed. Shine is a much more appropriate title for this piece. Here's a draft version with my producer laying down scratch vocals. Check it out, feel free to comment :)
